Nestled on a sloped, surrounded by dense trees and overlooking the peaceful Pend Oreille River, this two-story custom home is the perfect blend of modern and rustic. Currently under construction, the home draws from its natural surroundings as well as the neighboring homes.
The design, inspired by the client’s desire to embrace the stunning views and the sloped site, features rustic finishes with modern touches. Vaulted ceilings in the master suite and great room allow for tons of natural light and creating a bright, open atmosphere.
On the first floor, the layout includes a garage, guest room, office and mudroom for convenience and functionality. The second floor is dedicated to the main living areas, positioned to take in the river views. The great room, including the living room and kitchen opens up to the ample exterior deck space facing the river. Perfect for everyday living as well as entertaining. A large pantry takes up the full length of the kitchen, allows for ample storage space. Master suite takes up half the second floor for privacy and luxury. Two decks run along the entire north side of the home with access from the living areas and master bedroom to take in the natural beauty.
While designing the home we were faced with a couple of challenges, the steep slope and dense tree coverage of the site, but the design team worked to position the home to capture the views without disturbing too much of the natural habitat. We were also mindful of many construction costs, as well as the windows and decking.
Completion is expected late 2024 and this custom home will be a serene retreat, blending rustic warmth with modern sophistication in a riverfront setting.
