This concept design for a new Family Promise facility is a transformative space for families in need. The thoughtful building combines private family spaces with commercial business areas to help families and communities break the cycle of homelessness.
The facility has 18 family suites that can accommodate different family sizes, with the ability to join or separate rooms as needed. Each floor has a laundry room so all temporary residents have access to clean clothes. Shared bathrooms are on each floor with the option for en-suite bathrooms. The design allows natural light in all rooms so it’s a warm and cozy space.
The common areas include a large living room and community space, kitchen and dining area to encourage resident interaction and support. 5-6 offices and an employee only bathroom to support staff operations. A reception area with waiting space and a conference room for meetings and programs.
Initially designed with a specific site in mind, the project has evolved to ensure flexibility. The building can be adapted to fit various sites, and if additional space is available, it allows for the addition of more family suites or office space.
The architectural style of the facility draws inspiration from the Modern Farmhouse home style, supporting the idea of family and home. This design choice underscores the facility’s purpose: to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for families overcoming homelessness and rebuilding their lives.
The community impact of this project is significant. It will help to get people off the streets and out of homelessness, and give them the support they need to get back on their feet and independent.
While Family Promise continues to seek funding and a suitable property, the collaboration with Miller Metge Design Group has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Our partnership includes design work and marketing images to help secure the resources for the project.
With more effort and community support, this will be a shining light, living out the mission of Family Promise to break the cycle of homelessness and a better future for families in need.
